Cindy Chaconas

Cindy is a breast cancer survivor and has been cancer free since January 7th, 2009. Cindy is married to Eric Chaconas and recently welcomed to their family a beautiful and healthy young boy, Dimitrios Diego, on February 12, 2011. Cindy was raised by a single mother in Miami Fl, who was unfortunately also diagnosed with breast cancer, only 3 weeks after Cindy’s lumpectomy. Cindy attended the University of Florida and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training and physical education in 2002. A desire to advance her education led Cindy to the University of St. Augustine in May 2005, where she would earn a doctorate in physical therapy in 2007. Currently, Cindy practices as an acute care therapist at Flagler Hospital. After she and her mother were diagnosed, Cindy felt a need to educate the community in the early detection and prevention of breast cancer, and thus “Pink Up The Pace” was born in the Spring of 2009. Through her diagnosis, Cindy has learned that, “the key to success is to handle each situation as they come and move forward, because somewhere someone has been in your same shoes.”
Amy Kaelin
Co-Founder/Chief Executive Officer
Amy is a breast cancer survivor. She was diagnosed in October of 2008, at the age of 35. Amy was raised in Jacksonville, FL, but now calls St. Augustine home. Her father, a retired urologist, and mother are residents of Fleming Island. Amy’s brother and his family reside in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She earned an Associate of Science degree from Florida Community College in 1992. In 1994, she graduated from Baptist Hospitals’ Radiology program and later became registered in ultrasound in 2003. In 1997, Amy graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science. She is employed with the St. Augustine Imaging Center, working primarily as a sonographer doing diagnostic ultrasound. Amy has been involved with PUTP since it was founded by Cindy Ortiz Chaconas in 2009.
Sasha Unwalla
Vice-President
Sasha Unwalla, born and raised in Alaska has made St Augustine Beach her home for the last 5 years. After receiving a Bachelors degree in Political Science from Gonzaga University in 2005 she promptly packed her car with all mobile belongings and drove 3000 miles to St Augustine. She currently is a full time Mom and proud mother of twin girls!
Susan Foody
Secretary
Susan is a breast cancer survivor. She has been cancer-free since December, 2007. Susan and her husband, Bill, and children, Taylor and Will, moved to St. Augustine in August, 2010 from San Antonio, TX. Susan is a 1981 graduate of the University of Virginia with a BA in Economics. Susan has experience working at legal, business and nonprofit entities. She has also spent her time volunteering at her children’s schools and different service organizations. She is honored to be a part of PUTP. She knows that with early detection, breast cancer can be cured. Her goal is to help PUTP increase awareness of the disease in young women and stress the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. For anyone facing a cancer diagnosis, she encourages them to reach out to other survivors. There is an amazing source of strength provided by knowing others who have travelled the same path.
Liane Stark
Treasurer
Liane is a transplanted Michigander having moved with her husband to St. Augustine in 2009. For four years, the couple traveled across the country in a motorhome experiencing our great country and volunteering along the way. When it was time to settle, St. Augustine was chosen for its history, culture, beautiful beaches/weather and warm, friendly people. Liane is a Finance graduate of Northeastern University in Boston and also has her MBA from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Liane has over 20 years of sales experience in the healthcare industry and is now a realtor with Coast 2 Coast Properties. In addition to Pink up the Pace, Liane volunteers with Labrador Retriever Rescue, Friends of Anastasia and the Enterprising Women’s Leadership Institute where she is a board member. Liane is privileged to be part of PUTP having lost her mother to breast cancer in 1991. Her goal is to help PUTP successfully grow allowing the organization to: assist more individuals in the early detection of breast cancer, increase the awareness of breast cancer in the younger population, and become a valuable community resource for breast cancer information.
Kim Rolleston
Chief Executive Officer of Information
Kimberly Rolleston was born and raised in beautiful St. Augustine, FL. Her family here dates back five generations. She has a young daughter with whom she loves to spend most of her time. Kimberly has been in the radiology field for twenty years. She received her training at University/Shands Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. Currently, she works at Flagler Hospital in MRI. Kimberly decided to become involved with Pink Up The Pace when realizing how many young women in the community were being diagnosed with breast cancer.
